SMSBHA Memorandums of Understanding: Best Practices for School-Based Health Program Partnerships

  • February 27, 2020
  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (CST)
  • Zoom Web Conference Platform

Join us on Thursday, February 27th, 2020, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for a webinar on memorandums of understanding (MOUs), which are legally-binding documents that formalize a relationship between a school district and healthcare organization and define the terms of the implementation of school-based health (SBH) programs. Important components of MOUs include the roles and responsibilities of both parties as well as operational procedures to comply with relevant federal, state, and local policies, including HIPAA and FERPA.

During this webinar, Susan Goldammer, Esq., from the Missouri School Boards’ Association, and Molly Ticknor, LPC, the SMSBHA’s Executive Director, will discuss the purpose, components, and development of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) required for the implementation of SBH programs, which include school-based health centers, telehealth programs, behavioral health services, or other types of services provided by a healthcare organization in a school setting. From their experience supporting the MOU development process, Susan and Molly will discuss common challenges and provide key “do’s” and “don’ts” for school districts and for healthcare organizations in creating SBH program partnerships.

Webinar Audience:

All are welcome to join us for this webinar. The information presented will be most useful to school district leadership (including superintendents and school nurse or district wellness leadership), leadership from healthcare organizations with SBH programs, and those considering or planning for the implementation of a SBH program. The webinar will be recorded and disseminated.
